ECO4 Funding Programme Nears Completion
The Government has confirmed that the Energy Company Obligation (ECO4) scheme will end on 31 December 2026, following a nine-month extension from its original March 2026 closing date.
ECO4 has provided energy efficiency and heating improvements to eligible households across Great Britain since 2022, helping residents reduce energy consumption, lower heating costs and improve home comfort.
In its response to the ECO4 consultation, the Department for Energy Security and Net Zero confirmed that there will be no successor supplier obligation after ECO4, marking the end of the current ECO funding model.
The Government has instead committed additional investment through its wider Warm Homes Plan, designed to support low-income households and improve the energy efficiency of homes across the country.
The Government stated that ECO4 has delivered significant benefits since its introduction, helping households reduce energy consumption and heating costs through measures such as insulation, heating upgrades and renewable energy technologies.
While the scheme is drawing to a close, support for eligible households will continue through alternative funding routes, including locally delivered Warm Homes programmes and other government-backed energy efficiency initiatives.
Households interested in improving the energy efficiency of their homes are encouraged to seek advice as early as possible to understand what support may be available and to explore future funding opportunities as new schemes become available.
